Ran the JP Morgan Corporate Chase Challenge in San Francisco for the second time!
I feel fantastic. Haven’t been able to touch Final Cut Pro X in nearly half a year, much thanks to the Mewie twins. Frankly, there isn’t much you can do as a new dad other than try to meet their demands. But last Wednesday, I found the rare opportunity to run with my VMware co-workers and capture our magical moments with the GoPro.
This event consistently reminds me that I’ve been blessed with incredible friends at VMware. Nearly every day of the work week, we hang out – catch-up during lunches, exercise at the gym, collaborate on projects – and simply share life together. These guys and gals motivate me to be at my best and naturally, this video production had to be complete. ASAP.
Discovered more motivation on the day of the event. At least half of the returning VMware team cheered when they saw my camera on its awesome monopod. They remember last year’s video and often asked when the sequel will arrive. You could feel the positive energy before, during and after the race: the smiles, the shouts, the cheers and laughs made this filming experience easier and more enjoyable.
When loved ones are constantly encouraging you to deliver your best, very few things can stop you. Consequently, I found the amount of effort and time to produce this video was considerably less than last year’s. I was able to focus at a level of performance I’ve never experienced before. During the next day’s bus commute, I explored a variety of music and ultimately pinpointed the one song that I felt reflected our unique experience. It’s called “Stay Beside You” by Jonas B. Ingebretsen. After listening to that on repeat mode with my iPhone (Spotify, you rock!), I already planned out half the video without even touching my computer. Once I got home, I sat at my chair for the rest of the evening, hacking away on the video footage. And within 5 hours of editing, I was very happy with the results.
Huge thanks to Mrs. Mewie and the twins for being so gracious in allowing me to focus on this project. I had a blast.
