This blog needs more love but the good news is that I’m storytelling more than ever with two creative projects.
Drek Happens Podcast. What originally began as a reunion with my old college buddies transformed into a bi-monthly podcast! As a parent and sole breadwinner, I don’t get out much. I lack the time, focus, and discipline to edit my novel’s draft. I don’t even play video games anymore. But I yearn for community. Fortunately, a few friends are going through similar seasons of life and we thought getting together once a week for a few hours can be the solution. We started meeting up online back in August 2017 and our podcast launched in November 2017. If you’re interested in tabletop gaming and dark, twisted stories, then please give it a try!
As of today, we have published 13 episodes that are 10-25 minutes each. We’re having a blast producing and listening to them every 2nd and 17th of the month.
Mewie Life. I’ve been too focused on career the past two years and I’ve missed out on precious family moments. So I made a promise to my wife and the twins to spend quality time with them each week. To be accountable, I’m capturing and producing weekly videos of how I make the best of our adventures together. As of today, I’ve released 6 episodes in 6 weeks on YouTube. The cadence has been intense and demanding but I’m loving the creative process and finding new, fun ways to share life with the twins.

So, what about this blog? I have specific stories to share but I’m still processing them in my head. In fact, I still wake up at night every so often – full of anxiety as I remember these intense experiences. But if there was one gem I found through all this, it can be defined in one word: humility. In the long run, I know these learning moments have purpose in shaping me to be stronger, wiser, and ultimately, grateful. I hug my wife and the twins with more passion and appreciation each day. So stay tuned – I promise to write when I am ready.
In the meantime, enjoy the podcast and YouTube stories!
