As we all know, everyone is broken in some shape or form in their life. For some, this brokenness comes from a lack of confidence. For others, unfulfillment stems from the absence of authentic relationships. Nobody’s perfect and our flaws become problematic for everyone.
Now imagine someone who is perfect, unconditionally loving and forgives you for all your past wrongs. Do you know of anyone that looks like and identifies with that person? People of faith acknowledge this person as Jesus Christ who inspires broken folks (people like you and I) to be more like Him. In essence, He calls us to retrieve the Image of God or Imago Dei.
Who do you look like and identify with?
- When you hear juicy gossip: do you tune in and thirst for more? Or do you walk away and identify with people who are more thoughtful, respectful and productive with their time?
- When someone hurts your feelings: do you lash back and get even? Or do you exemplify grace and forgive the person as God has done for you countless times?
- When you are alone in your room and have the opportunity to look at things on the Internet that corrupts your mind: do you look or identify with the perverts? Or do you walk away from the temptation and personify purity and self-control?
Imagine how many lives will be transformed when they witness Imago Dei in your life.
